First Peter Jackson, director of the $6billion revenue Lord of the Rings Trilogy had to sue Time Warner's New Line film division to get his payments due to him. Now, the JRR Tolkien trust has to sue them again to get a scant payment of $150mm from the creative hollywood accountants over at Columbus Circle headquarters in NYC.
What was New Line management thinking, that they could avoid paying the family with shady balance sheet sleights of hand? Maybe they thought th3 humongous $62k upfront payment to the family would silence them. Woohoo.
And, then again, maybe our entertainment industry should dial down the greed quotient right Tom? Scient-graduate, high school drop out..
